Winter Fruit Salad

I wait around all year for pomegranate to make its appearance in grocery stores. So, this year I wanted to come up with more ways to use it, starting with a good ol' fashion fruit salad. I decided to break from the traditional bananas and grapes, and, instead, go with winter fruits with a cozy hint of cinnamon.

1 Pomegranate

2 Plums

2 Pears

4 Mandarin oranges

1 Apple

1/8-1/4 tsp cinnamon

  1. Peel and section 3 mandarin oranges, and chop plums, pears, and apple into bite-size pieces

  2. Transfer fruit to a mixing bowl. Halve the remaining orange and squeeze over the fruit to prevent browning

  3. Remove the seeds from the pomegranate and add to the bowl

  4. Sprinkle 1/8-1/4 tsp cinnamon (to taste) over everything, and mix thoroughly

  5. Chill until ready to serve
